Possibly the most competitive awards the Foundation bestows and recognized as the most prestigious high school football academic honors in the country, The National High School Scholar-Athlete Awards honor the best and brighest at the high school level.

Representing thousands of high school players across the nation, 3,000 scholar-athletes are selected each year by 119 local chapters of The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame for their superior academic and athletic performance as well for their leadership and community service. From this pool of 3,000 outstanding individuals, the Foundation selects four individuals as the epitome of the term scholar-athlete, honoring them at the Annual Awards Luncheon held in December at the Waldorf-Astoria. Although college freshman at the time of being honored, they are recognized for their academic excellence, leadership, and athletic performance on the football field during their high school careers.
